Mike Marshall, B.SC., MA ORGL

Partner & CEO

Mike leads Kinsol with 28 years of experience spanning all aspects of the timber industry, from automated and digital manufacturing, sales, marketing and management. Mike has spent much of his career in the leadership of the design and construction of some of Canada’s most innovative timber structures. Having led many innovative adventure projects, Mike is a valuable resource when it comes to leading and steering design teams through the challenges of concept creation, constructability, and budgeting.

Steve Stevenson, B.A.

Partner & COO

Steve has 15 years of senior management experience within the construction industry. He heads business operations at Kinsol, where he oversees the entire project delivery process, including design, pre-fabrication, installation, and follow-up client care. His discipline in front end planning and organization of our projects ensures smooth interaction with other contractors on site and delivers confidence to our clients that they are in good hands when it comes to getting it built on schedule and on budget.

Brett Taylor, CPA, CA

Director of Finance

Brett has worked with Mike and Steve in various roles over the past 10 years. With wide ranging experience in both private and public companies, including those within the construction industry, Brett has brought the financial executive experience that Kinsol was previously missing. He has made short work in organizing and leading the financial department, and quickly generated the robust and reliable financial reporting necessary to plan and operate the business. Brett is a proud father and husband, an avid basketball fan and coach, is active in his community, and has been known to destroy a 6-pack of Cherry Coke (sugar free, if his wife asks) in stressful moments.

Combining a high-level of conscientiousness with an inquisitive nature, Sean makes every effort to deliver Kinsol projects effectively and efficiently. He may not be the most talkative of this bunch, but it only takes a brief conversation with Sean to understand the level of intelligence he brings to the table.

With over twenty years of experience in the construction industry, Nate has successfully managed large projects internationally, from residential to commercial and heavy industrial. Leveraging this background, Nate delivers high-quality projects across various verticals for the Kinsol team. Myron Cottreau

Journeyman Carpenter, Senior Supervisor

Myron is one of our most versatile carpenters, apprenticing as a boat builder in the Maritimes and rounding out his skills in nearly every other facet of woodworking since then. With a strong penchant for planning, organizing, and leading others, supervision was an obvious step for Myron, and he has filled that role remarkably well. He’s got several superpowers, but the most enjoyable to watch is when he surprises a room full of unsuspecting consultants by being the most tech-savvy guy at the table.

Jeff Morberg

Supervisor

Though he is a steam-fitter by trade, Jeff adapted swiftly and seamlessly into the realm of mass timber when he joined the Kinsol crew, and has continued to demonstrate his aptitude for not only the trade but for leadership as well. In 2023, he completed the inaugural BCIT Associates Certificate in Mass Timber Construction amongst a group of leading-edge industry colleagues, expanding upon his knowledge and value to the team. Above all, Jeff is a kind and considerate human with a great sense of humour, and a very adorable mini-Dachshund named Fitz who probably deserves his own spot on this page.

Chris Bertin

Playground Supervisor, CPSI Certified

Chris is an experienced builder with years of construction experience, and a unique expertise in the creation of hand-made musical instruments. An adventure seeker himself, Chris’ whole approach to play fits perfectly with the vision of our playground team. His kind-hearted and cooperative nature makes him a pleasure to work with, both as a team member and for our clients. As a CPSI certified builder, Chris ensures that all finished construction meets the CSA guidelines.

Utilizing his background as a Superintendent, mass timber Facilities Manager, and Project Manager, he brings a diverse skill set and knowledge of construction to every challenge. As a Civil Engineer, also having a Masters in Construction Management plus experience as both Project Engineer and Estimator for Mass Timber projects, it’s more than possible there is a thing or two he can teach us, but we already know for sure that Bhushan is an indispensable asset to our team.
